What Is Digestion in Human Design?
Digestion is derived from the Color of your Design Sun — the unconscious side of your chart. It identifies a specific sensory channel through which your body best receives food and information. Each Digestion type points to particular conditions — lighting, sound, temperature, or appetite signals — that affect how efficiently you process nourishment.
Why It Matters
Even with perfect nutrition, eating under the wrong conditions can reduce absorption and cause discomfort. Digestion in Human Design explains why some people thrive eating alone while others feel better in social meals, or why certain times of day feel more natural for eating. It personalizes your relationship with food.
How It Works
The Design Sun's Color value (1 through 6) determines your Digestion type. This is further refined by a left or right orientation (called Tone), which adds nuance. The result is a specific set of conditions that optimize your body's ability to break down and absorb what you consume.
How to Use It
Experiment with adjusting your eating conditions to match your Digestion type. Pay attention to how you feel after meals eaten under different circumstances. Small changes — eating in quiet vs. noise, warm vs. cool environments — can noticeably improve digestion and energy levels.
