What Is a Transit Chart?

Your Birth Chart Meets the Moving Sky

A transit chart overlays the current positions of the planets onto your natal birth chart. When a moving planet forms an aspect to one of your natal planets, it activates that part of your chart — triggering themes around relationships, career, finances, emotions, and more.

Our calculator tracks all major transit types in real time: planet-to-planet aspects, sign ingresses, retrograde and shadow periods, lunations (New & Full Moons), solar and lunar eclipses, and heliacal risings and settings. Each event is scored, dated, and grouped by life theme so you can see exactly what's active and what's coming.

Accuracy

Why Your Birth Time Matters

Your Ascendant (Rising Sign) sets the wheel of twelve houses in your chart. Without it, we can still calculate planet-to-planet transits — but house-based insights (where in your life the transit lands) require an accurate birth time.

If you know your birth time only approximately, enter your best estimate. Even a rough time dramatically improves house accuracy compared to noon charts.

Birth time is optional — you'll still receive a full planet-aspect transit report without it.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What are planetary transits?
Transits occur when the current positions of planets in the sky form angular relationships (aspects) to the positions of planets in your birth chart. These connections trigger themes in your life — relationships, career, finances, and more.
What birth data do I need?
At minimum you need your date of birth. Adding your birth time unlocks house-based transits (which area of life is affected). Adding your birth place lets us calculate your exact Ascendant and house cusps.
How are transit scores calculated?
Each transit is scored 0 – 100 based on the aspect type (conjunction, square, trine …), the relative speed and weight of the planets involved, the current phase (building, peak, fading), and how many transits overlap in the same life area.
How often do transits change?
Fast-moving planets like the Moon change aspects every few hours, while slow movers like Pluto can form a single transit lasting months. Our engine tracks all speeds so you get both the quick daily shifts and the big long-term cycles.
What do 'building', 'peak', and 'fading' mean?
Building means the transit is approaching exactness — you may begin to feel its themes. Peak is when the aspect is exact and its energy is strongest. Fading means the transit is separating — effects gradually dissipate.
Do I need my exact birth time?
No. Without a birth time you still receive a complete planet-to-planet transit report. Birth time lets us add house-based insights and the Ascendant, making the reading more specific about where in your life each transit manifests.
What are the seven life themes?
We group transits into Identity & Self, Love & Relationships, Career & Direction, Home & Family, Money & Resources, Growth & Transformation, and Communication & Mind. Each theme gets its own score so you can see which area of life is most active.
Is this the same as a daily horoscope?
No. Daily horoscopes are generic — they apply the same text to everyone born under the same Sun sign. Our transit report is calculated for your exact birth chart, so the dates, scores, and themes are unique to you.
