What Is Definition in Human Design?
Definition refers to the pattern of connectivity between your defined channels and centers. If all your defined centers link together in one continuous circuit, you have Single Definition. If they form separate groups, you have Split, Triple Split, or Quadruple Split Definition. A completely open chart results in No Definition.
Why It Matters
Your Definition type influences how independent or interconnected you feel. People with Single Definition tend to process internally and move quickly. Those with Split Definition often seek out others who bridge their energy gaps. Understanding this helps explain relationship dynamics, decision-making speed, and emotional processing.
How It Works
Definition is determined by mapping all defined channels in your bodygraph and checking if they form a single connected network or multiple separate clusters. The number and arrangement of these clusters categorize you into one of five Definition types — from fully connected to entirely open.
How to Use It
If you have Split or Triple Split Definition, notice what types of people or environments make you feel more complete. These are your energetic bridges. For Single Definition, trust your ability to process independently. Understanding your Definition helps you choose environments and relationships that support your energy.
