What Is Authority in Human Design?

Authority is your internal decision-making center. It's determined by which energy centers in your chart are defined and takes priority over logical reasoning. There are several types of Authority, each linked to a different physical or emotional sensation — from gut feelings to emotional waves to intuitive hits.

How It Works

Authority is determined by the hierarchy of defined centers in your bodygraph. The system checks which centers are active and assigns Authority based on the most dominant one. This isn't something you choose — it's built into your design from birth, encoded in the planetary positions at that moment.

How to Use It

Learn which Authority you have, then start paying attention to its signals in daily decisions. If you have Emotional Authority, give yourself time before committing. If it's Sacral, honor your gut response. The goal is to stop overriding your body's wisdom with mental noise.
